Partner: The Institute of Health Promotion for People with Disability
Year of publication: 2012
Differently-Abled Architecture—DAA—is a collection of 17 cases of people with disabilities in two Northern Thai provinces—Lampang and Chiang Rai. The book’s aim is to create a manual of the refitting and construction details of these home, servings as an example to those who have similar types of disabilities or living in similar environments.
Differently-Abled Architecture is structured in the following way:
Presentation of basic personal data of each case
Presentation of plans for each living environment
Presentation of different ways of refitting according to the needs and desires of each case
The book seeks to emphasise universal design practice in these areas, which are full of limitations. These limitations are turned into opportunities by taking advantage of local knowledge and working with local networks.
